September 2006SETA Report to Select Committee on Labour and Public Enterprises 2 Labour Progress Report NSDS HIGHLIGHTS & KEY NSDS ACHIVEMENTS FOR 2005/06 Overall, the INSETA has achieved 115% in the final SETA Performance Assessment as conducted by the Department of Labour in the NSDS related activities. DoL categorises this as performance “above requirement”.

September 2006SETA Report to Select Committee on Labour and Public Enterprises 14 Labour Future Plans for Organisation The INSETA will:  Establish a Regional Presence through Circuit Regional Advisors in the other provinces, starting with: -Limpopo in October North West in October Mpumalanga in October Northern Cape in January 2007  Participate in Provincial Skills Development Exhibitions in all provinces  Build on the existing relationships with Provincial Departments of Education and Labour through participating in PSDFs & PGDS  Establish relationships with key role players in various Education and Training Institutions

September 2006SETA Report to Select Committee on Labour and Public Enterprises 15 Future Plans for Organisation NOTES: In general, Provincial Growth and Development Strategies focus mainly on Mining, Tourism and Agriculture and do not recognize Insurance as one of the key skills to be focused on and developed. This is why the INSETA is pushing to make the public aware of the importance of Insurance and the funds available to get people qualified in this industry. CHALLENGES THE INSETA FACES RE INVOLVEMENT WITH PSDFs etc.  Few invitations to PGDS  If invitations come, INSETA is not on the agenda to address the forum  Little national sectoral representation Labour
