Tardy Policy Changes

 3 or more tardies sends you to a 15 minute after school tardy party  Refusal to attend the tardy party can result in meetings with a principal, parents and possible suspension from school.

 We believe at Mount Logan Middle School students have the greatest chance of success if they are in their seats when the bell rings. Too many students are tardy. The current policy allows students to have 2 tardies a week with no consequences.

Students in their seats when the bell rings are more ready to learn. 1. The afterschool tardy party on Thursday is now going to be called “Tardy Restitution.”  *Being tardy to class should not be a party* 2. Tardy Restitution will be held for 45 minutes from 3:10 – 3: Students that arrive to tardy restitution on time will be excused in time to catch the late bus. 4. Arriving late to tardy restitution does not mean that you serve less time. Tardy Restitution starts at 3: Students arriving late will still serve 45 minutes of tardy restitution and will need to find their own transportation home because you will have missed the late bus. 6. Those arriving more than 5 minutes late (3:15) will be required to serve a 2 nd tardy restitution. Students that arrive any later will be considered as not attending.

 If you are asked to attend Tardy Restitution, please go to the following places: 6 th grade – Mrs. Fonnesbeck (Room 504) 7 th grade – Mr. Woodward (Room 207) 8 th grade - Mrs. Lisonbee (Room 108) Mrs. Martinez will sub for these teachers as needed.

 Please bring homework and books to read during your tardy restitution time.  If you do not bring something to work on, it is okay. We will have SRAs (silent reading comprehension and vocabulary activities) for you to complete during this time. No visiting and no leaving the classroom.

 Refusing to attend your tardy restitution or arriving late will result in one or more of the following: 1. Being called into the principal to create an “On Time Contract.” 2. A meeting with the principal and your parents. 3. A school suspension 4. Being escorted to class on time by an adult family member.

 Tardy Restitution is for students getting more than one (1) tardy each week  Tardy Restitution is also for students that have three (3) or more tardies during the trimester.

 We will begin fresh with this new policy beginning on January 18 th.

 Moving continuously through the halls.  Walking forward.  Staying to the right.  Coming into the classroom when I arrive. No bunching up in front of the door.  Being in my assigned seat working when the bell rings.

Students at Mount Logan Middle School arrive to class on time prepared to learn!
