Healthwatch Lancashire incorporating ‘Enter & View’ Project: Visiting and assessing care homes Sheralee Turner-Birchall Director of Operations Healthwatch Lancashire 17 nd June 2015

Who are we? Not for Profit Organisation Company established by LCC Network of over 150 independent Healthwatch organisations in England Commenced in April Healthwatch Lancashire

Clear message – the public voice on Health and Social Care Ensure the views and experiences of the people of Lancashire are heard by those who commission, provide and regulate services Enable the people of Lancashire to influence, change and improve the quality of local health and social care services. What do we do?

Regulate services – we are not a ‘watchdog’ Tell services HOW they should improve – we provide the patients’ perspective Publish critical reports – we want to develop stories where services have improved as a result of the patient voice being listened to What do we NOT do?

Community engagement Mystery shopping PLACE assessments Consultation Enter & View How we do it !

We compile reports regarding the feedback we receive which are directed to commissioners, providers of services, the Care Quality Commission and Healthwatch England. We produce reports for the public regarding the improvements these services have made as a result of patient and service user feedback Feeding back !

Team of 4 Project Officers working alongside fully trained volunteers Project to commence in July 2015 Using the ‘Mums’ test approach Services are selected using a strategic approach, supported by intelligence, research and knowledge gained through direct service user feedback and working in conjunction with Lancashire Health Hub Enter & View - Residential Care Homes
