PGCE RE Welcome to the Pre-course meeting Helen Bromley

Learning Objective By the end of this session you will… 1.Have met some other trainees 2.Have an understanding of how you can prepare for September and have set some subject knowledge targets for yourself.

Starter – where are we now? Talk to the person next to you, ask them what they are doing now and what they have done to prepare for the course next year. Be prepared to feedback.

Find someone who…. Take a sheet and talk to the others in the group, try to get one name for each question – you have 10 minutes…

PS and SA? You will be assessed in 2 areas – Professional Studies and Subject Application During Stage 1 you have 12 weeks in college (Sept – Nov) Subject Application is all day Tuesday and Friday mornings Workshops, lectures, visits, speakers and 6 assignments which allow you to practice skills for school

School Placements 2 contrasting placements We consider training need and personal circumstances You will not be placed where you have any connections. Up to an hour travel each way Possible paired placements

Auditing Subject knowledge. Aim to fill this in for September (there is a general college one and an RE one) Start thinking now about what your key targets are for September in terms of subject knowledge. We will test your subject knowledge on the first day, be prepared – RE trainees use the workbooks you have been sent – these will come by . History see reading list for guidance
