3 Dual Outcomes Postgraduate Certificate in Education - with 60 credits at level 7 Professional Graduate Certificate in Education - with up to 30 credits at level 7 In each case a strong start to a teaching career

4 Primary Pathways PGCE Primary – focusing on 5 - 11 age range – Key stage 1 and 2 PGCE Primary (Early Years) – focusing on 3 – 7 age range – Foundation and KS1

7 Minimum Requirements Good Academic Record (2.1 minimum) GCSE grade C or equivalent – Maths, English and Science Capability to meet Standards for QTS including subject knowledge Fitness to teach and CRB cleared Read effectively and communicate clearly and accurately in spoken and written Standard English PLUS – we do not consider anyone who has not had significant experience in school

8 Application Process Apply through GTTR (Sept – Dec) – Invited to interview (Nov – Jan) – Introductory talk – Group discussion task – Paired interviews Result of interview (2 weeks) Confirm Place (by Easter)

9 Assessment Attendance and completion of study elements Module Assessments – Professional Studies – Core Curriculum – Non-Core Curriculum Audits – English, Mathematics and Science School Experience supported by PDP – BEES1 and BEES2 QTS skills tests

12 Course Structure Phase 1: Enrolment and introduction to course tutors and fellow students (September) Phase 2: Introduction September – November: Mondays: Professional Studies Tuesdays and Wednesdays: Pathway/Subject groups Thursdays and Fridays: Placement school November – December: 5 weeks Practical Teaching 1 Aspects of subject knowledge, themes and processes, are integrated throughout the week

13 Course structure Phase 3: Development January - February Five weeks in faculty and placement schools as in phase 2 Phase 4: Qualification February - May Practical Teaching 2 – Thirteen weeks block practice in second placement school Phase 5: Enhancement and reflection Three weeks block practice in second placement school, followed by 2 days faculty review

14 Assessment Professional Development Profile (PDP) Subject Knowledge Profile (SKP) Practical Teaching 1 and 2 programmes Continuous self-set review, targets and action Career Entry Development Profile (CEDP) Trainees are assessed against the TDA Professional standards for teaching at KS3 and KS4 The Leavers Report refers to the 11-18 curriculum (at least one placement will be in an 11-18 school) QTS tests in Numeracy, Literacy and ICT
