Definition of Title I: Title I provides federal funding to schools to help students who are low achieving or at most risk of falling behind. Title I is allocated to schools based on the percentage of student receiving free/reduced lunch. Schools with a percentage of at least 40% are eligible for a schoolwide program.

Parent’s Right to Know – Student Achievement Rowland Unified School District notifies parents of results on State Assessments (SBAC) by mailing results home when they are received by the State. RUSD sends parents CELDT results annually. Additionally, parents are notified of Initial results within a 30 day window of the student enrolling in the district. Parents meet with teachers at Fall and Spring Parent Conferences, and may contact teachers at any time during the school year to discuss the achievement of their student.

Parent’s Right to Know – Non-Highly Qualified Teachers Schools are required to notify parents if their child has been taught for four or more consecutive weeks by a teacher that is not highly qualified. 100% of Rowland Unified School District teachers are considered to be Highly Qualified for the school year.

Parent Involvement in Decision Making The most important way parents can be involved in decision making at the school is by being involved in School Site Council. Additionally, involvement in PTA and Parent Advisory Councils with the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent are all important groups that provide a voice for parents to share their ideas to the district.

Right to Request Meetings Upon the request of parents, the school must provide opportunities for regular meetings for parents to formulate suggestions and to participate, as appropriate, in decisions about the education of their children. The school must respond to any such suggestions as soon as practicably possible.
