The Effect of Light Power On The Evaporation Rate of Coffee

Purpose To measure the effect of additional energy from a light source on evaporation of coffee

Hypothesis: If a bulb of greater power is used to warm coffee, then more of the coffee will evaporate.

Evaporation Energy Evaporation is a change of phase from liquid to gas Because the higher energy molecules leave, the process removes energy from the liquid Evaporation is a change of phase from liquid to gas Because the higher energy molecules leave, the process removes energy from the liquid

Evaporation Energy Light Bulbs are usually rated by their power consumption in Watts Average household lights range in power from 45W to 150W. Outdoor lights and heating lamps go up to 1200W. Power is the electric energy consumed and leaves the bulb as heat and light. Conclusions The brighter bulbs did have a greater evaporation rate Keeping the coffee warmer seems to help more coffee evaporate The brighter bulbs did have a greater evaporation rate Keeping the coffee warmer seems to help more coffee evaporate
