1 2.1 Measuring the Mass and Volume of Water
James Seymour Instructor

2 Purpose The purpose of this lab was to find the mass of a known volume of water and calculate the density of water.

3 Hypothesis I believe that…

4 Materials Balance Graduated cylinder Water Beaker Paper Towels
Data Chart

5 Procedure Measure the mass of the graduated cylinder
Put exactly 50 mL of water into the graduated cylinder. Find the mass of the graduated cylinder and water. Subtract the mass of the graduated cylinder from the mass of the graduated cylinder and water. Record your measurements in table1. Calculate the density by dividing the mass of the water by the volume of the water. Repeat steps 1-4 using 25 mL of water.

6 Observations/Results
This is where you write down any measurements, observations made, and data chart.

7 Conclusion Write a paragraph explaining the outcome of the lab.
Was hypothesis right or wrong. If wrong explain why. Explain what you learned from this lab and if you met the objective. Any questions you may have. Things you may want to find out in another lab.
