Sorting Linens and Uniforms 1.Follow safety precautions when sorting laundry. 2.Look for and remove items for soiled laundry as you sort it. 3.Sort linens according to use and fabric type. 4.Sort uniforms according to department. 5.Place sorted laundry in the correct laundry carts.

Two methods for pretreating soiled items 1.Obtain a spray bottled filled with an approved spotting solution. 2.Spray the stains, spots, and soil. (The spray should break up the stain or soil so that the chemicals will remove it in the washer.) OR 1.Place heavily soiled, stained, and spotted linens in a soak tank filled with an approved soaking solution. 2.Leave it in for a set amount of time.

Load, Use, and Unload Washers 1.Prepare loads of laundry. 2.Organize your work. 3.Be aware of special considerations 1.Load washers 2.Calculate wash formulas. 3.Set the controls on the machine according to fabric type. 4.Unload washers.

What is the benefit of using a washing machine with extracting capabilities? Removes excess moisture from laundered items. Reduces the weight of the laundry. Makes it easier for workers to lift the laundry and move it to the dryer. Reduces drying time.

Load, Use, and Unload Dryers 1.Check dryer for correct temperatures. 2.Clean lint from filters. 3.Load dryers. 4.Set time, temperature, and cool-down time. 5.Dry items. 6.Remove items from dryers.
