WE’RE OFF TO A GREAT START

ABOUT MRS. CANCILA I live in Woolwich. I have 2 girls ( 7 th and 10 th grade) * I have a yellow Labrador named Stella. This is my 18 th year teaching. ( 10 th year in Swedesboro) I have always taught third and fourth grade. I like to have fun, but also challenge my class! I’m a hard worker so I expect my students to work hard too! I love sports and my students will tell you I’m competitive.

Spelling *We are going to work on words during Word work during Daily 5 in the classroom * Spelling Pattern Strategies will be learned and used.

Daily Homework assignments minutes Reading Log and Math each night Reinforces skills taught during the day Kids should be able to complete on their own and then parent reviews it

A standards-based report card lists the most important skills students should learn in each subject at a particular grade level. Why not letter grades? Letter grades do not tell parents which skills their children have mastered or whether they are working at grade level. “Parents should know exactly what their students should be able to do.” Standards-based report cards can encourage teachers to make sure their lessons offer students chances to go beyond “grade level.” Parent information Night on October 5 6: 30 – 8:00 at Harker

FRIDAY FOLDER & ASSESSMENT FOLDER On Fridays the brown folder comes home with weekly papers…. I mark them with c’s and kid’s correct mistakes for me in school…..Keep those at home.. They are yours to keep On Monday the assessment folder comes home. Please sign and review. I will keep them in a file in school. I will use these and my antidotal notes to review the skills your child needs review on.
