What is the SDUSD BTSA Induction Program? Two year* induction program designed to support newly credentialed teachers to: support teachers as they transition into the teaching profession fulfill the requirements for the California Clear Credential * One year Early Completion Option (ECO) for eligible candidates

Eligible Teachers Credential Requirements Teachers MAY participate if they hold a/an: Multiple Subjects, Single Subject or Education Specialist Preliminary Credential. Level I Mild/Moderate Education Specialist Credential. Out of state credential with less than two years of contracted teaching experience.

Eligible Teachers Employment Requirements Teachers MAY participate if they: possess a Leave Replacement or Permanent Contract are teaching in a certificated assignment for at least 75% of the school year, by November 1, 2011 (ECO candidate deadline is October 1, 2011) teach in a district, non-district, charter or private school

Ineligible Teachers Teachers may NOT participate if they: teach preschool/child development are day-to-day substitutes are unemployed possess a Provisional Internship Permit, Short Term Staff Permit, Visiting Faculty Permit, or Emergency Permit

Ineligible Teachers (cont.) teach Vocational Education are employed for less than 75% of the current school year (by November 1, 2011). possess a Level I Education Specialist Credential other than Mild/Moderate

Eligible Teachers Early Completion Option (ECO) Teachers MAY participate if they:* hold a valid Multiple Subjects, Single Subject, or Ed Specialist Preliminary Credential or Level I AND are SB 2042 district or university interns who have successfully completed an intern program OR have two or more years successful experience as teacher of record with evaluations of “meets” or “exceeds standards” * Individual Advisement is required to determine eligibility

Dual Clear Credential Process: The SDUSD BTSA Induction Program requires that candidates who desire to clear more than one credential must: Complete a Dual Credential Application Schedule Individual Advisement with BTSA Induction Resource Teacher

Alternative Assignment Clear Credential Process: The SDUSD BTSA Induction Program requires that candidates who desire to clear a credential outside of their current teaching assignment must:* Schedule Individual Advisement with BTSA Induction Resource Teacher * Co-Teaching=Possible Exception

Support Providers Release Days for Classroom Visitations Learning Academies Portfolio Checks Professional Development Opportunities Ed Specialist M/M Level II Coursework Colloquium/Exit Presentation District Salary Advancement Credit Two Year Gen Ed Program=18 units (9/year) Two Year Ed. Specialist Level I=23 units (5/coursework) One Year Program (ECO)=12 units

Formative Assessment for California Teachers (FACT) Context for Teaching Initial Assessment of Teaching Practice Inquiry Into Teaching and Learning Summary of Teaching Practice

Tuition and Payment Options Two year program: $2,300 annual tuition One year ECO Program: $3,000 annual tuition Education Specialist Program: $2300 annual tuition, plus $150 per course unit (5 course units) $250 down payment is required with enrollment packet (goes towards tuition) Charter school teachers may pay an adjusted tuition rate based on the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between SDUSD and the charter

Payment Options Initial down payment of $ due with Enrollment Packet to secure spot Full annual tuition MAY be paid in advance For SDUSD employees, tuition balance will be secured through automatic payroll deduction For non-district employees, tuition balance will be paid in two equal payments Ed Specialist course fees must be paid before the first class meeting of each course

Where to Begin? Attend Informational Session (Today!) Schedule an appointment with Credential Specialist to determine eligibility and sign a Verification of Individual Advisement Form Complete and Submit Enrollment Packet Submit $250 down payment
