Preliminary Credential Preparation Professional Credential Preparation Professional Credential Renewal PRELIMINARY CREDENTIAL PROFESSIONAL CREDENTIAL Blended Program Induction Program Application of Prior Knowledge Formative Assessment and Support Advanced Curriculum Demonstration Frequent Reflection on Practice Individual Induction Plan Credential is valid for the life of the holder as long as renewal fee and evidence of meeting professional fitness are submitted every five years. Ongoing professional growth is the responsibility of the credential holder and based on any requirements the employing school district may have. Post-Baccalaureate 5th Year Program TRAINER’S NOTES: In 1998, the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing sponsored and the Governor signed legislation that restructured teacher credentialing in California. The highlights of this reform were: The creation of multiple, standards-based routes into teaching, including blended programs of undergraduate teacher preparation; Alignment of teacher preparation standards with State adopted academic contact and performance standards for students; A new requirement that teachers pass a teaching performance assessment embedded in their preparation program prior to earning a preliminary teaching credential; A new requirement that teachers complete a two-year induction program of support and formative assessment during the first two years of teaching as a requirement for earning a professional teaching credential. 13 CEUs versus CSUEB Credit
Continuing Education Units (CEUs) PTs Only FREE 1 semester unit for 10 non-contract hours May not transfer from district to district OR CSUEB Credit for FACT work Cost to PT/SP – $288 per term (3 terms) 4 qtr units for each term = 2 2/3 sem units 3 terms = 8 semester units Units transfer from district to district Information is available today
