 NNCS and SLL BOCES submitted a request for funding for all school districts  Eighth grade students from any sending school in our area may submit an application for Northern P-TECH Academy  Northern P-TECH Academy is a regional effort to redesign instruction  Students remain on the district roster while they attend P-TECH (up to six years)  Second floor high school space will be leased from Potsdam Central School District

 Students enter the P-TECH Academy as 9 th grade students  Students attend Northern P-TECH Academy for the full day  Students complete high school Regents requirements AND earn college course credit at P-TECH  Students commit to a six year program combining high school and college course work

 Students begin earning college credit in 10 th grade  Potential for up to 30 college credits by completion of 4 th year  Students are bussed from their home school to Northern P-TECH Academy in Potsdam  Years 5 and 6 students will attend college on the campus or satellite campus

 Traditional high school course work with a non-traditional approach  Project based learning  Student and teacher collaboration  Work place learning experiences  College experience while in high school  P-TECH and college advising on personal pathways

 Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center  Kinney Drugs  Massena Memorial Hospital  Northern Area Health Education Center  St. Lawrence Health System  United Helpers ◦ Business Mentors for every student providing career guidance and work place experiences ◦ Students considered for positions upon completion of requirements

More Pathways to come North Country Community College  Health Science  Human Services  Chemical Dependency Counseling SUNY Canton  Computer Information Systems  Credit transferable from NCCC to SUNY

 Are motivated to learn in new and exciting ways  Are innovative and creative  Are interested in applying science, technology and math  Work well in a collaborative team environment  Thrive in a non-traditional classroom setting  Are interested in one of the pathways

 The Program: Students remain in high school an extra two years to earn an associate’s degree  The Skills: Employers help craft the curriculum so graduates are ready to enter the career of their choice  The Commitment: Students are mentored by business, advised by college and high school from 9 th grade

 Sports? Local school decision but students will be bussed back in time to participate  Music? Let us know what you are interested in. We’re still working on that.  Six years? What about graduation? When high school requirements are complete it will be a local decision whether students “walk across the stage”  Financial Aid? Students remain on the high school roster and are not eligible for aid  We are sure you have more questions....

 Hamilton Fulton Montgomery (HFM) P-TECH opened in September 

 Submit a complete application and parent, teacher and counselor forms to your guidance office  Guidance will submit complete application packets to SLL BOCES by March 25  After April break we will contact each person to ask them to share a few more things about themselves  Decisions on enrollment will be made in May  Summer orientation in July or August 2015
