1 Graduation Requirements (as of the start of the 2016-2017 school year)

2 Each year students will meet with their school counselor to discuss their plans for the future and the courses that they will take in order to meet the Graduation Requirements. The courses listed on the Educational Career Plan (ECP) are the courses that will be scheduled for the following school year.

3 Requirements for All Students working toward earning a Maryland High School Diploma
75 Service Learning Hours ½ Credit of Financial Literacy Total of 25 Credits 4 years of approved study beyond 8th grade 4 credits must be earned after the completion of grade 11

5 Current Seniors State Testing Requirements
High School Assessments: Take and pass Government (396) and Biology (400) High School Assessments or take both assessments and earn the combined passing score of Students who meet the eligibility criteria also have the option to complete the Bridge Plan for Academic Validation. The Biology H.S.A. is in it’s last year and a new assessment will be coming in (more information will be coming out as it is available.) PARCC Assessments: Upon completion of the English 10 and Algebra I courses, students shall participate in the English 10 and Algebra I PARCC test. College & Career Readiness Assessment: All students shall be assessed no later than 11th grade to determine if the student meets the Maryland State Department of Education criteria for College & Career Readiness in English Language Arts and Mathematics. A score of 4 on either PARCC English 10 or English 11 is accepted (this may change in the future). If a student is enrolled in a Career and Technology Education Program they must first take the “regular” College & Career Readiness Assessment. If the student failed the College & Career Readiness Assessment, the Career and Technology Program State Certification Assessment can be considered the “retake.” The State Certification Assessment can be utilized as the “retake” and if the student passed the State Certification Assessment it would be considered a passing score for College and Career Readiness. Transition courses or other instructional opportunities will be delivered in the 12th grade to students who have not achieved college and career readiness by the end of the 11th grade.

If a student completes the English 10 and Algebra I courses during the school year and beyond, he/she is required to pass the PARCC Assessment for English 10 and Algebra I. A score of 4 on either PARCC English 10 or English 11 is accepted (this may change in the future). College and Career Readiness Assessment: All students shall be assessed no later than 11th grade to determine if the student meets the Maryland State Department of Education criteria for College and Career Readiness in English Language Arts and Mathematics. This assessment may be the English 11 PARCC Assessment, the Accuplacer, the SAT or the ACT. If a student is enrolled in a Career and Technology Education Program they must first take the “regular” College & Career Readiness Assessment. If the student failed the College & Career Readiness Assessment, the Career and Technology Program State Certification Assessment can be considered the “retake.” The State Certification Assessment can be utilized as the “retake” and if the student passed the State Certification Assessment it would be considered a passing score for College and Career Readiness. 8 Requirements for all Students working toward earning a Maryland Certificate of Program Completion
75 Service Learning Hours attended school for 4 years beyond the 8th grade or it’s age equivalent

9 Students working toward earning a Maryland Certificate of Program Completion after completing 4 years of high school (prior to age 21) The IEP team, with the agreement of the parent(s) determined the student has developed the appropriate skills for the individual to: enter the world of work (with the world of work including but not limited to: gainful employment; work activity centers; sheltered workshops; and supported employment); act responsibly as a citizen; and enjoy a fulfilling life. Note: Parent MUST be in agreement to award a Certificate of Completion prior to age 21
