Relationships

Learning GoalsSuccess Criteria I will understand what the word “chastity” means and will understand the importance of effective sexual decision making. Romance Without Regret Worksheet

Agenda  A quick chat with excerpts of the books “Pure Manhood”, “Pure Womanhood” and “Pure Love”  A few notes  View “Romance without Regret”

Relationships and Sexuality Sexual Decision Making? Why Wait…why not? Our BODY and the gift of SEXUALITY are: - Sacred (ie holy and special) - Precious Gifts From God - Always to be Valued and Respected - Not to be Taken Lightly or Abused - Practicing Chastity Allows Us to be Truly Free….why? Chastity: For single (unmarried) people chastity means abstaining from all sexual activity until marriage. SEXUALITY IS AN AWESOME GIFT AND SEXUALITY INVOLVES ALL OF YOU (Mind, Body and Spirit) SO ASK YOURSELF THIS QUESTION: “WHO IS WORTHY OF RECEIVING YOU?”

Sexual Decision Making: Before making a decision on whether or not to be sexually active, take the following into consideration: What do I need? 1) A well thought out value system 2) I must clarify whether or not I want to become involved sexually or not. How do I decide? 1) I must try to act according to my conscience which in many ways is shaped by my values. 2) I must be willing to accept the consequences before I act. (If I’m not ready to accept the possible results of my actions, then maybe I’m not ready for sexual activity) Sexual morality must consider the following: 1) Physical Risks- Sexually transmitted infections including HIV/AIDS and pregnancy. 2) Psychological and Emotional Risks- fear, guilt, remorse, anxiety, worry, poor self-esteem, feeling used, heart ache, anger, resentment. (Remember: sex should be a wonderful and loving experience not one that makes you feel any of these negative feelings!!) 3) Sexuality is a gift from God and it should always open to what that gift can bring; that being a child! If you are not open to this gift, wait!! Two people who truly love each other and are in a committed relationship will always be open to the gift of life.
