Methane- is the major component of natural gas, it is composed of carbon and hydrogen. The whole purpose of methane is to generate electricity by burning it up as a fuel is a steam boiler or a gas turbine. Advantages of methane gas is burns more cleaner then other fossil fuels. A disadvantage is it could leak causing an explosion. Question: Methane is used to do what ? Answer:

Composting is the process of recycling decomposed organic materials into a rich soil. It enriches the soil by adding much needed microorganisms. Composting reduces waste sent landfills, also produces usable compost. It smells (if not maintained properly), and can attract critters. Question : How does composting help the environment ? Answer:

Biodegradable is the chemical breakdown of materials by environment. The purpose of biodegrading is so when we throw away stuff, it doesn’t sit in a landfill for eternity. Advantages of biodegradable products is in the proper conditions (sun and moisture), the plastics degrade to point where organisms can digest them. The only disadvantage of biodegradable products is that their degradation may contribute to the release of CO2 as the main product. Question : What is the bad thing about Biodegradable products ? Answer:

Biodiesel is fuel made from vegetable oil that is used with normal diesel engines. It contains no petroleum or petroleum-products, the bad thing about it is biodiesel does not work well during cold weather. Question: Can biodiesel fuels start a fire ? Answer :

Ethanol fuel is the same type of alcohol that is found in alcoholic beverages, it was developed in Brazil. Ethanol has a lower energy density than gasoline so it wont go as far as gasoline. A good thing about ethanol is its organic origins. Question: What 3 raw materials groups do ethanol come from ?
