The entire Science Department has switched to percentages instead of point values for grading all assignments this year. The following weighted scale will be used to calculate academic grades In a regular Class: 40% Exams 30% Quizzes 20% Labs & Projects 10% CW, HL & Participation In an advanced class: 50% Exams 30% Quizzes 20% Miscellaneous

Late work will NOT be accepted. Assignments that are not turned in receive a Z in the grade book. Make-up work will only be given when the child’s absence is excused by the office. It is the child’s responsibility to ask for make-up work. Both, parents and students are able to view their academic progress through the Dadeschools Portal Students will be responsible for reading assignments as well. Material covered in the textbook, but not through a class discussion may also appear on exams!!

Class rules are displayed all year If student chooses not to comply with class rules, disciplinary action will be taken. Disruptive behavior can affect an individual student’s, as well as, whole group’s academic grade.
