Open Action Items HyTASP Logo – Greg Johnston volunteered to take the logo and have it professionally cleaned up. Joaquin Castro to assist. – OPEN (Greg to provide status in a few charts) Targets of opportunity that are not currently represented on HyTASP - Peter Montgomery responded that the Russian representative has been unresponsive and we need a new candidate Consider restart of HyTASP newsletter. – Adam Rasheed to talk to the Young Professional Committee to try to encourage young members to join HyTASP and take over this task WebEx at Spaceplanes conference – Greg Johnston volunteered to work with conference organizers and AIAA to establish the go-forward strategy Greg Johnston to send Twitter presentation to Peter Montgomery - CLOSED Dan Marren to acquire addresses of new HyTASP members

Notes from TAC Meetings AIAA is having financial difficulties (~$2M over budget in 2013)  AIAA staff has been reduced by 25%  Conference attendance in 2013 down 25%  New Event Model is one action being taken to decrease costs / increase revenues  The Institute needs your ideas to increase revenues New Event Model “Integration Layer”  More system integration and TC / PC collaboration sessions at the forums  TAC is going to push on the PCs to make this happen AIAA is investigating ways to improve “virtual interaction”  Improved website  Virtual meetings / conferences  Social media

AIAA HyTASP PC Charter Today, hypersonics involves cutting edge technologies comparable in their potential to the development of the jet engine, high-speed swept-wing aircraft, and the breaking of the sound barrier. The goal of the HyTASP committee is to ensure that our hypersonics knowledge base, advanced over the last decade, flourishes and leads to expanded market opportunities in the 21st century. The committee involves government, industry, university and international members, working within the framework and charter of the American Institute Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA). We will promote continued hypersonic technology progress through both ground and flight- testing. We will accomplish this by:  Coordinating and focusing hypersonics activities across the AIAA.  Working with other US and international societies to enhance an awareness of hypersonics issues and opportunities.  Promoting conferences, short courses and the writing of position papers to expose the technical community, government and public to the importance and potential of hypersonic flight. With regard to the last point, a major activity of the committee is the organizer of the AIAA International Space Planes and Hypersonic Systems and Technologies Conference, held every 18 months

13 Steering Subcommittee (Tim O’Brien) From Basil Hassan: Current listing: This award is presented to recognize sustained, outstanding contributions and achievements in the advancement of atmospheric, hypersonic flight and related technologies. This award is generally presented every 18 months at the AIAA Aviation and Aeronautics Forum (AVIATION) or at the International Space Planes and Hypersonic Systems and technologies Conference (non-U.S.). The next presentation is tentatively scheduled during Nomination Deadline: 1 Basil’s suggestion: This award is presented to recognize sustained, outstanding contributions and achievements in the advancement of hypersonic systems through the integration of hypersonic technologies. This award is generally presented every 18 months at the AIAA Aviation and Aeronautics Forum (AVIATION) or at the International Space Planes and Hypersonic Systems and technologies Conference (non-U.S.). The next presentation is tentatively scheduled during Nomination Deadline: 1 – TEAM instead of INDIVIDUAL?, and/or, Chief Engineer / Program Manager centric, small pool, “and / or contributed to the integration of hypersonic technologies” A note could be added that says this award is NOT to recognize contributions in the individual hypersonics technologies which are covered by other AIAA Awards.
