Current ASME-Australia Section Executive Committee members PositionName Telephone Chair Amir Todras, (0) Vice Chair Vacant Secretary John , M:+61 (0) Treasurer Chris (0) Codes & Standards Kim, Sungjoong/Shane (0) Past Chair / Committee Advisor Vojislav (Vic) Ilic, M:+61 (0) With several contacts in other states and with potential of two active members to be involved in the executive committee this year

ASME-Australia Business Plan Collaboration with local societies ASME and Engineers Australia (EA) renewed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). With this MOU, EA and ASME collaborate together for the benefit of the Mechanical Engineering discipline. Having signed a MOU with the Global Carbon Capture and Storage (GCCSI); ASME-Australia is a legal member in the GCCSI and actively involved in several major activities and decisions ASME-Australia and Engineering Education Australia (EEA) which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Engineers Australia are collaborating to benefit joint members.

ASME-Australia Business Plan Collaboration with local societies ASME-Australia and Engineering Education Australia (EEA) generally schedule 3 ASME courses per year and they alternate the popular ones. There are a few areas where appropriate courses could be recommended by ASME-Australia and we could have direct involvement (discussion is underway with EEA).

ASME-Australia Business Plan Networking with the local societies At the moment there is an active network and interaction between EA and ASME in Sydney and Perth We established a sub-section committee in Brisbane and Melbourne but later disappeared (geographical challenge) We still have to find a suitable candidate in every state and capital city who can represent and lead local ASME members

Joint program and events For example a monthly meeting takes place in the Sydney Mechanical Chapter with participants from: –Engineers Australia –ASME – Australia; and –IMechE

ASME-Australia Business Plan Events In addition to our joint meetings with EA; ASME- Australia programs, activities and products are aligned with ASME’s Strategic Priorities (Energy, Global Impact and Engineering Workforce Development) In August 2012 ASME-Australia, University of Technology Sydney and the Institute for Sustainable Future will organise a seminar on a transition pathway for a low carbon energy future. Currently we are working on two other workshops Energy efficiency workshop Pumps and pipelines workshop

Recent achivements –Other events including lunch and learn sessions –The number of local members almost doubled between 2009 and 2012
