Day 6 – Annotations and Proceedures

Objectives Understand the importance and usage of prepositional phrases. Analyze a work of fiction for author’s point of view and understand the connotation v. denotation. Introduce vocabulary proceedures Homework: Vocabulary Lesson 1 Flash Cards due 9/1 Passage Packet 1 and annotations due 9/4 Sign in to google classroom and complete assignment 1

Warm Up Copy the sentence below and identify the prepositional phrase, preposition, and object of the preposition. Then, construct a sentence that explains why the prepositional phrase(s) are important to the sentence. “At school they say my name funny as if the syllables were made out of tin and hurt the roof of your mouth.”

Passage Packet Procedure Take a copy of the reading, questions, and answer sheet. Write down annotation objectives for the week. Read passage and annotate per objectives and for general understanding. Answer questions based on reading. Record answers on answer sheet. You Must Include a Rationale (the reason why you picked that answer).

Google Classroom Everyone, take a Chromebook. If you do not have one, take a seat at one of the computers. Sign into Chrome with your log-in information. Student ID Password: YYMMDD Raise your hand if this does not work.

Returning the Chromebooks Row 1 first – I will stand in front of the row to signal which one will go. One at a time, place the Chromebook in its nook and plug in the charger. NEVER SHOVE IT IN OR LEAVE IT OUT. ALWAYS PLUG IN THE CHARGER.
