3. Warm Up
Construct 2 sentences about Zombies while using prepositional phrases. You must have at least one Prep. Phrase per sentence. Underline the Preposition and label the OoP. Make sure you put the Phrases in (parenthesis). Ex: (Throughout the movie), the zombies walked slowly (after the three humans).

Prepositional phrases generally contain the preposition and an object of the preposition.
Objects of the preposition MUST be nouns.
Here are some examples:

NEVER be found in prepositional phrases.
It is a good habit to learn to spot prepositional phases.
Use ((parentheses)) to mark them;
That way when you are looking for the
subject and verb of the sentence,
it will narrow down the search.

1. Prepositions are not used alone in a sentence. Instead, they are the first word of a
___Prepositional______ ___phrase_ (a group of words that begins with a preposition and is followed by a noun or pronoun- person, place, thing, or idea).
* To find a prep phrase:
1. Find a preposition.
2. Ask “Who?” or “What?” after it.
ex. down the street ex. before the game
ex. out of time ex. with him
ex. near the tall, gently swaying, green grass

***Remember that the Subordinate Clause will have a subject___ and ____verb______ and the Prep Phrase will only have an ____object______.

13. A prep phrase(s) at the beginning of a sentence should generally be followed by a comma UNLESS the next word is a __verb____.

ex. Next to the barn is a field.

Download the document from Google Classroom and work with your partner. Refer to your class notes before asking any questions. You must work together.

Sign onto Google Classroom and open the Prepositional Phrases #2 worksheet. Identify the prepositions in Blue and the objects of the prepositions in RED. Make sure you put the prep. phrase in parenthesis ( ). Next, follow the directions on the worksheet. Whatever isn’t finished is homework.

Download the document and read the questions first.  Annotate the document for the following: 1.  The author's attitude towards the rich. (Tone) 2.  The title 3.  Word choice 4.  Author's purpose

When finished, answer the questions at the bottom of the document.  Your answers must be in complete sentences and reference the text.  You must explain how you developed your answer based on the reading.   Submit your completed document and press "Turn In".  Make sure your assignment reads "Done".
