Ms. Hickey’s Classroom Rules & Procedures

Entering the Class Students will line up, IN A LINE, against the wall until given permission to enter the classroom. Students will wait quietly for teacher to allow entrance into classroom Upon entering, students will get out necessary supplies QUIETLY and get ready to work.

Tardies If you are not in my room when the bell is ringing – you are tardy! Do not bother running down the hall. YOU ARE LATE! 5 th period – if you are not with my class when I pick everyone up from lunch – you are late. Do not tell me that a teacher is going to send an about your tardy; you are late until I receive some sort of notice telling me otherwise If you do not have a pass with you upon entering my class late – you are TARDY and NO – you may not leave to go and get a pass

Tardies Continued 3 tardies = Morning detention: 7:45am – 8:40am. You must bring back your detention slip signed or else it will be as if you did not show up at all. 4 tardies + = write up. If you are late or do not show up for detention – you will be written up.

CHAMPS What does it mean? Let’s review!! C : Conversation – Are you (the student) allowed to talk during the activity? If so – at what level? H: Help – How will the student ask for help during the activity? How will you get the teacher’s attention? If it says raise your hand, then you should do so, but continue to work until you are acknowledged.

CHAMPS Continued A: Activity – What is the task/activity that we, as a class, are going to accomplish today? What is our goal? M: Movement: Can you, the student, move around the room during the activity? P : Participation: What is expected of you, the student, during the class period S : Success!!

Seating Chart You will be expected to sit in your ASSIGNED SEAT and NOT MOVE unless given permission. This is not up for debate.

Leaving Your Seat Sharpening pencils, getting tissues, sanitizer, etc, - you MUST get permission before leaving your seat!

Supplies In order to be prepared for my class – you need the following supplies for my class EVERYDAY: –5 subject notebook –Blue or Black pen –Red pen for grading –Colored pencils DO NOT turn work written in any color other than blue, black regular pencil – it will not be graded.

Supplies Continued You are responsible for bringing your OWN supplies to my class. DO NOT interrupt my class time getting supplies – get them BEFORE you come to my class.

Completing Work You are responsible to complete all work that is assigned to you if you hope to be successful in my class If you are ABSENT: you are responsible for ALL makeup work. YOU must get your makeup work. It is YOUR responsibility to make up those zeros and get the notes.

Leaving Class NO BATHROOM BREAKS!!!!! This is nothing new – so don’t ask. You are not going to go to another class if you leave something behind No students will leave my class unless I ask them to or they are called by another adult Dismissal – if you leave before your bus/activity is called, there will be consequences.

Leaving Class Continued The bell DOES NOT dismiss you – I dismiss you. Class will not be dismissed until all trash is picked up, books are stacked (when they are out) and chairs are pushed in. DO NOT pack up early!! Our class time is very precious and we WILL use every second of it!!

Dress Code Here at Christa McAuliffe, we have a dress code. As long as you are in my class room, you will follow the dress code that has been put in place. NO SAGGING PANTS! Wear the correct belt- the correct belt DOES NOT have decorations all over it!! Shirts MUST be tucked in at ALL TIMES!

Dress Code You must have a clear or mesh back pack No more than one bracelett per arm Do not argue with me that ‘Ms. James saw me and didn’t say anything’ – I don’t care. I am looking at you now and am taking care of business. Deal with it. Items that are not part of the dress code will be confiscated and turned into Mrs. James.
