Geography is the study of the earth.

The 5 Themes of Geography Location Place Movement Interaction Region

Location Absolute Location – is an exact location on earth, usually given as an address or GPS coordinates Relative Location – is location relative to something else, usually given by telling what the location is close to

Place What is it like when I get there?

Movement People, goods, and ideas move constantly.

Interaction Humans and the environment interact with each other constantly. People affect the environment. The environment affects people.

Region A region is an area defined by common characteristics. We categorize regions in two basic ways: physical and cultural. Physical regions are defined by landforms, climates, soils, and natural vegetation. Cultural regions are distinguished by language, religion, lifestyle, politics, and common industry. Regions can be any size.

Remember Geography is the study of the earth. The 5 Themes of Geography are: Location Place Movement Interaction Region
