Audience Orient Users –Use heading and captions as organizers Limit Focus –One idea per screen Know Your Audience –Purpose and audience for product

Text Keep Text Lines Short –Between 8 and 10 words Use Upper and Lower case –Don’t use all caps Use Lists Justify Text Appropriately Limit Type Styles –No more than 3 styles per screen Provide Emphasis –Use bold, italics, or underlining Do Not Flash –Irritates rather than interests Do Not Stack Text –Vertical text is hard to read

Color Limit Color –No more than 3 or 4 colors per screen Standardize Use of Color –Set up color scheme Use consistently
