Introduction How do the events around you effect your life. What you learn can help you if you find your- self in one of these events We use Earth Science every day in the real world– what have you learned that will be useful to you and your fellow classmates later in life?

Project Description Think about the four topics we have covered and pick one that you wish to learn more about (Earthquakes, Earth’s Layers,Volcanoes, and Plate Tectonics). Research this topic by using class notes, text book, and any other materials you wish Prepare a Power-Point presentation to share with the class that describes your findings. Present your topic to the class

How to prepare your Power Point You may prepare your Power-Point in the school computer lab or at home. Once completed, transfer to a flash drive and be prepared to present it to the class on the day assigned If you wish to have me preview your project you can bring it to class on a flash-drive and I will review it and make suggestions.

What to include in your Power-Point The topic you have chosen. Definitions about this topic. Pictures or graphics. Facts about this topic How this topic affects the lives of others. What you have learned that can help us understand how to live with this event.

Be creative Add pictures, clip art and/or other graphics Use slide transitions Use sound Add effects Try to do at least one of these on each slide Have fun with it. Try to make it interesting

Timeline The teacher will present the unit in class covering a two week period After this each student will pick one of the four topics to do there presentation on. They will have two weeks to work on it, they will be given time in class and will have to do some at home. Projects are to be ready to be presented on the following Monday, which is 4 weeks after the beginning of the unit. Projects should be ready on Monday but it will take a full week for the class to present.

Power Point Rubric Category4321 Content Requirement Content covers all required areas and is clearly explained Most of the content is covered but there is one piece or information missing. The content is generally there, but one piece is flawed or hard to understand Content is confusing or contains more than one factual error. Special effects, graphics Special effects or graphics are used on all pages with smooth transitions Special effects or graphics are used on most pages Special effects and graphics are used sparsely or they do not transition smoothly Special effects and graphics not used correctly

Presentation Rubric Category4321 EnthusiasmStudent shows strong interest and enthusiasm about the topics of others with facial expressions and. Did not generate much interest in topic being presented. ComprehensionStudents shows good understanding of topic by being able to answer most questions Student is able to accurately answer most questions posed by classmates about the topic Students is able to accurately answer a few questions posed by classmates about the topic. Student is unable to accurately answer questions posed by classmates about the topic. Listens to Others Presentations Listens intently. Is quiet and shows interest. Listens intently but has one distracting noise or movement. Sometimes does not appear to be listening but is not distracting Sometimes does not appear to be listening and has distracting noises or movements. PreparednessStudent is completely prepared and has obviously rehearsed Student seems pretty prepared but might have needed a couple more rehearsals The student is somewhat prepared, but it is clear that rehearsal was lacking Student does not seem at all prepared to present.
