How Great Britain Made us MAD….

Housing! ► Quartering Act- colonists were forced to provide shelter for British troops  (And the soldier took personal belongings, food, women, etc.…)

Taxes! ► Britain passes acts taxing Stamps (all written documents), Sugar, Tea, and whatever they wanted whenever they wanted! ► Britain could limit colonists rights (ex. jury trial)

Murder! ► Boston Massacre- British opened fire on a crowd protesting in Boston and killed 6 ► revolution/boston-tea-party/videos/boston- massacre-helps-spark-the-american- revolution?m=528e394da93ae&s=undefined& f=1&free=false

Sooooooo…… What did we do about it?

► Boycott- refuse, colonists refused to follow acts set by Great Britain ► Boston Tea Party- colonists responded by storming the British ship and dumping all of the tea into Boston Harbor ► revolution/boston-tea-party ► Colonists chanted “No Taxation Without Representation” ► Since colonists did not have representation in Parliament in Great Britain that made all the taxes they should not have to pay them

What did we do about it?... ► 1 st Continental Congress  Delegates sent a letter to King George demanding their rights back  Colonists continued to boycott ► Great Britain  King George ordered British troops to open fire on colonists at the Battles of Lexington and Concord revolution/boston-tea-party/videos/first-revolutionary- battle-at-lexington-- concord?m=528e394da93ae&s=undefined&f=1&free =false
