How to Design a Page, Part 2 HOWE/ANDERSON

Step 1: Login   Job No  User ID/ Password

Step 2: Open your previously saved pages.  Go to CREATE tab, then PAGE LADDER  Find your assigned pages, and click on them.

You should see something like this:

Step 2: Changing the Background  At the top of the screen, on the menu bar, click on the gray square once.

You will see this:  A gray block will be added to your page.

 Click on FORMAT on the RIGHT of the screen.

 Click on the gray box to select it.

 Click the drop down arrow beside the gray FILL box on the Format Menu.

You will see: As you scroll over the colors, the names will pop up at the top. Try Rainforest Guava or Nocturnal to match our theme or select something more neutral for a less obvious background. Or maybe you just prefer a white background!

 Click on a color you like. The gray box will turn the color you select.

 Finally, with the colored box still selected, click “Make Background” on the Format menu.

You will see:

 You will need to follow these steps for EACH of your two pages.  Soooooo…..place a gray box on your second page. If it appears on the first page, simply drag it across to the second page. Change the color and hit “make background”.  Ta da!!

You should see something like this:

Changing Tint of Background You can change the intensity of the background by adjusting the tint. Move the bar back and forth until you find the tint you like.

You may see this:

Using a picture for a background:  Using a picture as a background is a similar process as using a solid background.  Click on the edge of one of your backgrounds to select it.  You will see a thin yellow line around the entire page if it is selected correctly.  Hit the DELETE button on your keyboard.

You should see this:

Find the images: Select the image tab on the menu at the right of the screen.

Find your picture: Click on the drop down box and select the “It’s All About Me” Folder. This is where you will be putting the images from your photography assignment. For today, we are all going to use the “trees” picture.

Place the picture on your page: Click on the picture and drag it to your page. Do not put it in one of the blue picture boxes already on your page. Pictures must have a high enough resolution to become a background.

You should see this:

Use the picture as a background:  Make sure the picture is selected. It will have the yellow box and yellow dots around it.  Then choose the “Make Background” icon.

You should see this:

Repeat the steps:

Step 3: Changing Color Blocks  If your template has colored blocks or lines, it is easy to change them.  Do not try to change the blue boxes that say “Drag image here.” Those are your picture boxes.  Select any line or block that you want to adjust the color.  Click on the Format menu.

Click on the drop down arrow beside “Fill” in the Format menu.

Choose the color you want.

You should see:

 Change as many of the color blocks as you want.

Step 3: Changing Fonts  Select a textbox. You will know it’s selected when it has a yellow box and yellow dots around it.

 When you select the text box, you will notice that your format menu changes!

Change the font:  Begin by selecting a font you like.  You can change as many of the text boxes on your page as you like!  You many use different fonts in different text boxes. The key is to create a balanced, visually pleasing, and easy to read page.  Click on the drop down box to select different fonts.

To Change the Size of the Font:

To Change the Color of the Font:

To Make the Font Bold, Italics, or Underline

To Change the Alignment of the Font:
