1 PowerPoint Exercise 1

2 Insert a slide  Slides are added to a presentation by clicking the New slide button in the Slides group under the Home tab.  Clicking the New slides button will insert a slide with the same layout as the previous slide. Clicking the New Slide drop down menu lets you choose which layout you want on a new slide.  Insert a slide with the layout Two Content by using the New Slide drop down menu then go to slide 3.

4 Changing a Layout  You can change the layout of a slide after you’ve created it by clicking the layout command and choosing a different layout  Change the layout of this slide to Title and Content.  Go to slide 4

5 Delete a slide  Slides are deleted by selecting them in the pane on the left then pressing the delete key.  Delete slide 5

6 Rearrange a slide  You can rearrange slides in the pane on the left or in the Slide Sorter view.  Move Slide 6 to the very beginning of the presentation by clicking and dragging it to the top of the pane on the left. Then go to slide 7

7 Creating a Section  You can group slides by sections to organize them in the left pane.  Add a section by clicking on the section command in the Slides group and choose Add Section  An Untitled Section will appear on the left, right click on it and choose Rename Section.  Name it Section 2. Go to slide 8

8 Change background theme  Now we will add a stylish design to our plain white slides.  Click on the Design tab and choose the theme titled Austin. (You can find the correct theme by hovering over the themes shown until the tool tip box says Austin)  Your background should now be green, white and brown. Go to slide 9

9 Changing Background Colors and Fonts  Now say we like this theme but we want the colors and font to be different.  Change the color by clicking on the Colors command in the Themes group. Choose the color scheme Composite.  Change the font by clicking on the Fonts command in the Themes group. Choose the font scheme titled Office. Go to slide 10

10 Insert an image  To insert an image you can click on the Insert tab and choose Picture from the Images group or you can just click on the picture icon in a placeholder.  Click on the picture icon in the placeholder on the right and choose the lighthouse picture in the sample pictures. Go to slide 11

11 Using WordArt  WordArt is preformatted decorative text that comes with PowerPoint to make headings and other text stand out.  Highlight the Text on the right, then click on the Format tab. Choose one of the word art styles in the WordArt Styles group.  Go to slide 12

12 Using SmartArt  SmartArt is preformatted text graphics that come with PowerPoint.  Highlight the text on the right, then click on your Home tab. Choose the Convert to SmartArt command in the Paragraph group. Choose one of the SmartArt graphics.  Go to slide 13 Insert Slide Design Slide Format Slide Present Slide

13 Transitioning Slides  Now lets add transitions to our slides.  Click on the transitions tab then choose the Reveal transition  In the Timing group, change the Duration to 2.00 seconds.  Click on the Mouse Click option under Advance Slide to uncheck mark it, then checkmark the After option. Use the arrows there to change it to 1.00 seconds  Then click on Apply to All.  Go to slide 14

14 Playing the Slideshow  Now we are ready to view our slideshow.  Click on the Slideshow tab and click the From Beginning command in the Start Slideshow group.
