Preparation of the Body Skill Related Fitness

Agility: This is the ability to move the whole body quickly and precisely, while maintaining control Reaction Time: This is the time taken between the recognition of a signal and the start of a movement. Also linked to speed Balance: This is the control of different muscle groups to ensure the Centre of gravity remains within the base. Timing: This is the ability to perform skills at the correct time, with the correct emphasis Co-ordination: This is the ability to control movements smoothly and fluently. It also takes into account the specific sequence for effective movement Movement Anticipation: This is the ability to predict the next sequence of movements. The performer must respond early and move to the next shot.

Mental Fitness Mental Rehearsal: This is where the performer runs through in their own mind what they need to do to perform well. It is often used in individual activities where you can control the speed or pace of the game It is however more difficult if the activity is directly competitive Managing Emotions: This is the ability to control emotions in demanding situations, allowing the performer to concentrate on their performance and maintain their level of skill Level of Arousal: This is the preparation of the body for action or level of motivation. Too high a level of arousal can result in the performer becoming over anxious and performance suffering as a result. Too low a level of arousal can result in a low level of performance, due to fatigue or poor motivation.

Question Two Choose one aspect of skill-related fitness and one aspect of mental related fitness. Explain the importance of each for effective performance, in an activity of your choice.
