Language Arts Reading –Self-selected Novels per year to be Proficient or Advanced Approximately 3-4 books per marking period needed for proficient Blog Responses- 4 per book Story Map Activities- 1 per marking period –Read aloud- 2-3 novels, short stories, poetry –Making Meaning- Reading Comprehension Program –Other text books, newspaper, magazines, etc. * Total of 25 books or its equivalence should be read by schools end to reach state proficiency.

Language Arts Writing –4-5 pieces taken through the writing process- Narrative, Persuasive, Research, Poetry, Reflective –EPA- Elementary Performance Assessment (end of March) –Exit Conferences (May/June)

Language Arts Grammar- Daily Language Review Writer’s Craft- Mini Lessons Word Study (Spelling/Vocabulary) –Approximately every 2 weeks –10-15 Words

Math Units of Study –1 st Quarter-Number Sense, Decimals –2 nd Quarter-Fractions –3 rd Quarter-Geometry –4 th Quarter-Integers, Probability Homework –Most nights and many weekends –Missed work Quizzes/Tests/Quarterly Tests –20% / 50% / 30% –Quizzes and Tests must be signed and returned
