Signal Hill School Agenda Book The agenda is our communication guide. Check the agenda daily! Your child will write his/her homework and The Test and Quiz Schedule in his/her agenda. Homework is assigned Monday through Thursday. Homework is 10% of your child’s grade.

Homework Homework is given Monday thru Thursday, however there may be times during the school year when homework/studying will be assigned on the weekend. Homework is the student’s responsibility, but please check that it is complete and sign the agenda.

Homework continued… *Please inform me if your child is having trouble with his/her homework. Homework is very important and reinforces what your child learns in school. Your student will receive a weekly reading log. Make sure it is filled out properly and signed. When we begin multiplication, the math log will be added to ensure they are reinforcing multiplication practice at home.

Birthdays! I enjoy celebrating birthdays with you and please review the following guidelines: Due to food allergies, kindly refrain from providing treats with peanuts or other nuts. If you choose to send a cookie cake, brownies, etc. please make sure it is cut before bringing it to school. School rules do not permit the children to pass out birthday invitations in class. Thank you for your understanding!

Mathematics Pearson enVision Math is the program used district-wide. You have online access to the math program. Your child receive quizzes/tests in each topic of focus. Continuous review of math facts (addition and subtraction; multiplication later on) is of great help! Ensure that your child uses Moby Max to reinforce for addition and subtraction practice.

Reading Street Our reading block consists of: Spelling, Grammar/Language, Reading, and Writing. Please ensure your child studies their spelling words and vocabulary words frequently to understand them and be prepared for the tests. The Reading Schedule is on a 6-day cycle and the students are tested on the 6 th day. *This may change towards the end of the year to a 5- day cycle. The Weekly Reading Log due every Monday, unless otherwise noted. Spelling City!

Social Studies Map skills, Native Americans, Immigration, and Early American history are some examples of material that will be covered. Studying will be assigned as homework which is a great skill to grasp in Grade 3. Please ensure your child is studying/reviewing nightly. Quizzes are usually after each lesson. There will be a study packet that will be helpful when it comes to studying. Tests are after each chapter.

Science We switch between both science and social studies per topic of focus. We begin the school year studying science. Topics of focus: Living Things Animals Plants Rocks Earth’s changes
