Design Principles and Font Rules Contrast Repetition Alignment Proximity Font Rules Quiz

Contrast In a presentation, it is important to have contrast. This may be contrast of colors of fonts. An example of contrasting colors would be a white presentation with a white font. An example of a presentation that does not contain contrast would be a white presentation with a yellow font. When there is no contrast, it is hard to see the presentation and distinguish between visuals. Return to Beginning To Quiz

Repetition Throughout a presentation, there needs to be repetition for it to flow. For example, this may be repeating fonts, font sizes, or images. This makes a presentation easier to understand and follow. Return to Beginning To Quiz

Alignment Alignment is extremely important in presentations. Alignment is setting things, such as fonts or images, up so that they do align within a presentation. This makes a presentation visually appealing and easier to follow. When images and fonts are centered, they are considered to be more formal. When they are right aligned, they are considered academic. If a presenter chooses to use left alignment, they may be seen as more modern and creative. Return to Beginning To Quiz

Proximity Proximity may be defined as the distance between objects within a presentation. It is important for specific items to have close proximity, and for others to be further away. For example, a title should be close to a story that it is describing. Also, the two titles and stories should be further apart so that a viewer may see the differences. Return to Beginning To Quiz

Font Rules There are two major styles of fonts. These are Serif and San Serif. Serif includes loops and extra designs on the font. San Serif fonts are simple and do not have extra aspects. The general rule is that only two styles of font may be used for a presentation. Return to Beginning To Quiz
