ENERGY LAB STATIONS What we did in class today: Tuesday September 25 th, 2012

PACE

 I’m taking the next few days to introduce you to our first quarter topics and to evaluate your lab performance.  I’m looking for teamwork, focus, brainstorming/critical thinking and safe, mature lab behavior.

What is Energy? You may write down examples for the term. Don’t worry about spelling or grammar. This is a quick- write where you just put your ideas on paper. Energy is the ability to do work or to cause a change.

Energy Lab  You’ll find stations set-up in the lab with different topics that we’ll cover this quarter.  Do your best with any prior knowledge you have and always remember to ask questions and to ask for help. When we move to the lab there’s no gum and you need to bring your lab book, and your pen/pencil only.

Energy Lab Everything is handled with care. Use everything appropriately. Remember the safety rules. Only conduct the experiments according to their directions.

Energy Lab Each table has someone to take you through the experiment. Write the Station # and title for each one as you go to it. Write answers to any questions or brainstorming ideas in those sections. Please write neatly and remember that while you may brainstorm ideas together you write your own responses. Read and listen to all instructions before beginning work at each table.

Energy Lab When I give the direction, you’ll walk over quietly with your materials and sit with the person from your table group. I may ask some of you to move so be prepared if it’s needed. I’ll will give a signal to have you rotate and you’ll move to the next station on your list. YOU MUST ASK PERMISSION FROM ME TO LEAVE YOUR STATION.

Energy Lab Please re-set the tables before you move. You may leave the lab once I’ve dismissed your table, not by the bell. Listen for the signal to clean-up so you can leave on time. Leaving the lab does not mean leaving the classroom. Wait for the bell. Make sure that you haven’t left any trash and that you’ve pushed your seat in.
