Reading in Year 3

How is reading taught in Y3? O Autumn Term through half hour phonics sessions every day

How is reading taught in Y3? O Children grouped by ability so able to target those who may need more support and challenge confident readers O Phonics sessions also link decoding skills (reading) to encoding skills (spelling)

How is reading taught in Y3? O Spring and Summer terms reading is taught through guided reading sessions

How is reading taught in Y3? O Some children may still need extra support and will have targeted small group work focusing on reading, phonics and other literacy skills

This is not the only reading Y3 children do. It happens everywhere, every day of the week!
