Presentation transcript:

There are many brilliant scientists who do you think is the best scientist ever? Why? What makes a scientist great? What must they do to be remembered for generations? How do they or their inventions have an affect on society? Next These materials are © 2011 Greenwood Elementary School, all rights reserved. Website for this image ade.az.gov

Next Your investigative team will be looking at information on three prominent scientists, their lives, experiments and inventions. The first part of your task will be to collect information from the websites provided as well as using the SIRS Database. Each student will complete an organizer about one of the scientists and share their information with the group. The group will then decide on a criteria that they think is important in determining who is the best scientist of all time. They will then select one of the scientist and write a 30 second commercial telling why their scientist is the best ever. Finally they will video tape their commercial and present it to the remainder of the class for a final review to vote on the best scientist ever.

Click on the list below and go to the website about your scientist. Place the facts on your organizer and think about what you will say to your group as to why your scientist is the best ever! Scientist Area of Science Affect on Society Discovery Or Invention Year of Discovery Or Invention Interesting Fact Why are they the Best? Next These materials are © 2005 NAME, SCHOOL, all rights reserved. Now your group must use the criteria that they created to decide on which scientist they think is the best of all time. After you made a decision, use the storyboard that your teacher gave you to write your group’s 30 second commercial. Before you can record your message your group must review the writing rubric to make sure that your commercial contains all the necessary criteria, if not go back and edit your work as needed.

Next These materials are © 2005 NAME, SCHOOL, all rights reserved. Once the teacher has approved your group’s storyboard you can gather your props and go rehearse your skit. make sure your group has assigned one person for each task that is necessary to film your commercial and then start recording. Your group will be allowed to do 3 takes and when you are finished download the takes from the camera and view each take. Finally, decide on which take that you will present to the class.

These materials are © 2005 NAME, SCHOOL, all rights reserved. Now that we have seen all of the informative commercials from each group it is time to vote. Take out your activote at your table and when the voting page is presented you may cast your vote. Once you have voted, please complete your reflection sheet about this project and place it in the slot on your way out of class.
