3 Introduction In Nature, we find plants and animal live in communities. The members of these communities depend on each other for survival. Some provide food for others, some clean up waste, some distribute seeds, some provide shelter, and others provide oxygen or carbon dioxide for the community.

4 In this quest, you will investigate how plants and animals work together. You will identify them as producers or consumers. You will also, research animals and classify them as herbivores, carnivores, or omnivores.

5 Task Your team has been asked to create a question and answer book describing, in detail how plants and animals help each other to survive. In order for your team to create this book, you must do some investigations.

6 Process  Divide the class up into teams of 4.  Each team will divide into two groups of two. (2 will research animals, and 2 will research plants)  The Animal scientists will need to print out their discovery sheet.  The Plant scientists will need to print out their discovery sheet.  Students should not surf to any websites other than the ones listed on their resource page.

7 Process  After all work has been compiled, the team will then complete 2 assignments using Kidspiration: one is labeled Food Web2 and the other Food Chain. Print out their work.  Final project: Create a question and answer book using the details your team has learned about how plants and animals work together in our ecosystem. Teams must make sure that both the animal and plant scientist’s findings are represented.
