Theme 6 The production plan Activity 2

Planning a filming project Learning intention To understand how to create a production plan for our film. Success criteria I have created a plan for each scene of the film. I have included important information about how each scene is to be filmed. I have created a filming schedule to make sure that all filming will be competed within a deadline.

The Production Plan You now have your script and screenplay. Your next task is to make this into a film! You will have to work with your team to make decisions about filming the project.

The Production Plan The next step is to create a production plan for your film. A production plan helps to make sure that everything goes smoothly when it is time to start filming.

The Production Plan In your Group, consider the screenplay or narrative for your film and try to work out how many different scenes there are going to be.

The Production Plan Give each scene a number and a short description, for example: Scene 1 Outside school gates Scene 2 In the classroom Scene 3 Mrs Smith gets angry! Scene 4 The telephone message

The Production Plan As a class, agree all the scenes in the film and give them each number and a short title.

The Production Plan Group Task Taking Scene 1 of your movie, identify and agree the following.

The Production Plan 1 Action Describe in a couple of sentences what is happening in Scene 1. Record this on your Production Plan sheet.

The Production Plan 2 Location Identify where Scene 1 is going to be filmed. What is the location? Record this on your Production Plan sheet.

The Production Plan 3 Actors and performers Identify which actors or performers will be taking part in Scene 1. Record this on your Production Plan sheet.

The Production Plan 4 Production team Which members of the production team will be involved in producing Scene 1. Eg, camera operator, producer, director. Record this on your Production Plan sheet.

The Production Plan 5 Costume and wardrobe Identify any costumes or clothing that performers will be wearing during Scene 1. Record this on your Production Plan sheet.

The Production Plan 6 Props and staging Identify any props, staging or special effects that will be required during Scene 1. Record this on your Production Plan sheet.

The Production Plan 7 Equipment Identify any other equipment that will be required for Scene 1. This will include any cameras, or lighting, or special effects. Record this on your Production Plan sheet.

The Production Plan Production Plan: All Scenes Now do the same for all the other scenes of your movie. When you have completed the information for all scenes of your film, your production plan is complete and you are ready to start filming.

The Production Plan Rotating production roles (optional) If you are rotating the the production team roles, you should now complete a production team rotation schedule.

Production Schedule Now that you have planned all your scenes the next task is to produce a production schedule. You must identify the dates and times for your filming of each scene.

Production Schedule Scene 1 18 th February 2-4 pm Scene 2 20 th February 9-11 am Scene 3 23 rd February 2-4 pm Scene 4 26 th February 10-11 am

Production Schedule You have to ensure that you complete all the filming in time to edit the video before the project deadline.

Production Schedule Go back to your Production Plan and fill in the date and time for each scene. Now your Production Plan is complete and you are almost ready to start filming.

Getting ready to film The final stage is to produce storyboards for each scene. Check out the Theme 7 (Storyboarding).
