Whole Planet Foundation Free Salad Bar For Schools All Over The US Not a Success Recommend future capstone students to give it a try Whole Kids Foundation Hello! My name is Valeria Flores; I am a senior in Sharpstown International School 6-12 in Houston, Texas. I am currently working on an obesity project and seeking a local solution to the issue. I know that a vital part of dealing with obesity and changing into a healthier lifestyle choice is to get into a healthy eating habit. I would like to know if my school could qualify for a salad bar and if so, what do I have to do to make this happen at my school? I know that a salad bar at my school would be much needed and the kids here would actually enjoy and be influenced into eating healthier. I am writing on behalf of my entire school, including my principle Thuy Le-Thai, teachers, students, and faculty staff. We would be overjoyed if our school was eligible for a salad bar. I can assure that having a salad bar at my school would be a healthier change in the food options my school already has. If you are interested in making partnership with Sharpstown International School please contact me at (832) or

Weebly Informative blog explaining Obesity, our capstone & steps we took to make it successful Weebly

Global Connection Local Impact We realize what obesity really is, however we understand that not all people truly know what it is &what it is capable of doing. Our project (The Fitness Club) helps us reach out to people and help them realize what kind of path they are heading into if they don’t make changes. We help our peers change into a healthier lifestyle choice Obesity has become more than opinion; obesity is the reality the world has to face and unravel not only a local solution but a global solution A cording to the national health organization, over one million people of the population is over weight

Greatest Success Greatest Challenge The Fitness Club is our greatest success The club is out actual project and our local solution to the issue Actually becoming leaders of our club Getting out of our comfort zone & becoming the leaders it demands for our club Managing our time right was our greatest challenge. We fixed this complication by making many, many to-do lists and working around our schedule. Capstone has taken too much energy from us but it has been worth it

Learned About the World Learned About Ourselves Talking to people about the issue made me realize that many did not conceder obesity an “issue” Obesity does not only affect the victim but everyone in their surroundings We can make things happen if I wanted to; if you want to achieve something you make it happen - especially if you are passionate about the topic We are motivated with the help of others If were going to do something, we are going to do it right

Change the World in the Future Nothing we have learned or accomplish this semester will go to waste In the future we will try to help & convert many people to a healthier lifestyle choice because we know that health is important for not only a person & their family but their country and world as well. Change the World in the Future Influence our family, peers and community members Continue the Fitness Club With the expectation of it growing
