 4 credits in English  English I  English II  English III  English IV  4 credits in Math (recommended to take at least one math each year)  Math I  Math II  Math III  1 Additional math class that matches the students post secondary plans  3 credits in Science  EES,  Biology,  Physical Science or Chemistry

 4 credits in Social Studies  World History  Civics and Economics  American History I  American History II  1 credit of Health/PE  12 elective credits  2 elective credits should be from a foreign language if you plan on attending a 4 year college straight out of high school  Successful completion of the Capstone project  Need a total of 28 credits to graduate

 You can earn several different Honors Cords to wear during graduation.  Honor Cord requirements are available on the SNHS Student Services website  to-obtain-an-honor-cord to-obtain-an-honor-cord

 Sign up for the SAT/ACT (if planning to attend a college/university)  Record volunteer hours  Study on-line for the SAT/ACT  Save money for cap and gown  Create a CFNC account if you don’t have one  Sign up with scholarship search engines

 FALL  Be sure you are scheduled for all classes needed to graduate  Take the SAT/ACT  College Applications  College Fair will be October 26 th during 4 th period  Your counselor will meet with you for your Senior Conference  Herff Jones meetings for Cap and Gown  Senior Pictures  Apply for scholarships

 Get to know Yourself:  What are my goals?  Where do I see myself?  What extracurricular activities would I like to continue/pursue?  Consider College Characteristics:  Majors and educational programs  Locations and size and cost  Talk to others who have attended the college  College Visits  Attend Open House events or a campus activity  Call to request a tour or take a virtual tour

 Start applying now!  You can access college applications by going to or going directly to the college’s websitewww.cfnc.org  Check college websites to find out when their application deadline is  Clean up your social media pages! College admissions officers and employers check them to see who you really are

 GPA: 2.5  SAT Critical Reading/Math: 800  ACT Composite Score: 17

 Your GPA and rank change at the end of each semester once your final grades are put in  Colleges and employers will be able to look on your transcript and see each grade you received while in high school  If you need to know your GPA/Rank for a college or scholarship application your counselor.

All transcripts are free You can send the transcript yourself No parent signature required Only for schools in North Carolina Electronically through CFNC Transcript request forms are available in Student Services and should be given to Ms. Hagler SNHS can mail the transcript

SAT/ACT Two total SAT Waivers and two total ACT waivers Requirements – Free/Reduced lunch, Upward bound program, Educational Talent Search Student needs to bring in a copy of the letter they receive from Child Nutrition Services stating they receive free or reduced lunch to their counselor to qualify for a waiver College Application Waivers Students must have received a SAT waiver and have taken the SAT with that waiver Students are eligible to receive 4 application waivers The college application waivers will be uploaded to the students Collegeboard account by Collegeboard once a student has taken the SAT

 Create a Student Resume  Talk to teacher/counselor in person to make the request  Provide teacher/counselor with a note stating the “needed by” date  Allow the teacher/counselor a minimum of one week to complete the recommendation  Provide recommender with an envelope and be sure they sign across the seal

 It is YOUR responsibility to search our scholarships and apply  Scholarships are posted weekly on the SNHS Student Services website  Links to scholarship search engines (Meritaid, Fastweb, etc) are also on the SNHS Student Services website  CFNC post different scholarships  Call specific colleges directly  Complete the FAFSA form in February

 Set up a NCAA account if you plan on playing sports in college  Send your SAT/ACT scores to NCAA  16 Core Course Requirements  Yearly expectations  Timelines

 Check your student portal to see your current grades and attendance  Ask your teachers about any missing assignments you still need to turn in  Remember you can only miss 10 days a semester  See your counselor about 5 th period if you have days you need to makeup
