And in Han dynasty，it was placed in the dominant position. Confucius was respected as a sage，laying the foundation of Confucianism. Mencius and Master Xun inherited this religion and further developed it. The most important element in Confucian ideas is that everything in life is relational. Moreover, it lays stress on self-cultivation，interpersonal harmony as well as world harmony. During about 2，000-year development, Confucianism is regarded as the mainstay supplemented with Taoism and Buddhism. Taoism arose later than Confucianism. It has a native root, evolving from the religious beliefs in the ancient society and featuring the ideology of the Han nationality. It revered Master Lao as its founder. And later Master Zhuang made a great contribution to Taoist development. Taoism considers that everything in the universe evolves from “Tao“ (way).
