7 Five mini-talks 1) May I book a room for three nights?
Receptionist: Good evening, Peace Hotel Reservation. May I help you? Lynda: Yes, may I book two double rooms for three nights? Receptionist: Sure. Could you give me your name and telephone number, please? Lynda: It’s Lynda Miller. The telephone number is

Jane: Good evening. I have made a room reservation here. Clerk: Let me check. Yes, there it is. A single room for one night. Jane: Yes, I’m leaving tomorrow. Clerk: Then you have to check out before 2 o’clock P.M.

Catherine: I would like to stay in this hotel for a couple of days. Receptionist: Welcome. Would you please show me your passport? Catherine: Here you are. Receptionist: Thank you, and here is the registration form for you to fill in.

10 4) I’m Awfully sorry. Tom: I’d like to book a single room for two nights. Receptionist: I’m awfully sorry. We don’t have any room available now. Tom: No problem. I’ll try some other hotels nearby. Receptionist: Goodbye!

12 Act out the tasks Task1 : You are leaving for New York next week. Make a reservation with a hotel there by telephone. Task2 : You want to check into a hotel where you have already made a reservation. Task3 : You come to a hotel and ask for a single room with a good view. Task4: You want to book a hotel room but your booking denied for the peak season. Task5: You want to check out of a hotel after a week’s stay there.

Receptionist: Holiday Hotel, Reservations. May I help you? Guest: Yes. I would like to book a double room for my family. Receptionist: All right. For which dates, please? Guest: Next weekend. That is for May 18th and 19th. Receptionist: Let me check if we have a room available then. Oh, yes, we do. Guest: Good. I would like to have a non-smoking room. Receptionist: There are many non-smoking rooms available in our hotel. May I have your name, please? Guest: Charles Wilson. By the way, do you have any golf course (高尔夫 球场) nearby? Receptionist: Sorry, but we have a swimming pool, and we provide some other services. Guest: That’s fine. Shall I send you a deposit? Receptionist: No, you don’t have to, you may pay on arrival.
