A+ Tutor/ Community Service Training

Sign an A+ agreement by September 30 th of senior year. Have a 2.5 cumulative G.P.A. (non-weighted) by graduation. Have a 95% attendance rate. Have a good record of citizenship with NO drug or alcohol offenses. Attend an A+ School 3 years prior to graduation. Complete 50 hours of unpaid tutoring/community service at a non- profit organization (25 minimum hours in tutoring). Complete the FAFSA senior year. Enroll in selective service (males as required by law). Beginning with the high school senior class of 2015, have achieved a score of proficient or advanced on the official Algebra I end of course exam, or complete the first semester at a postsecondary institution with a minimum of twelve (12) hours or the equivalent, and a two and one-half (2.5) grade point average prior to receiving A+ tuition reimbursement.

EVERY Parkway STUDENT! –Students that plan to go to a community college after high school. –Students who are unsure of their post- secondary plans. –Students that plan to go to a 4-year university.

If eligible upon graduation, you may receive up to 2 years (or 6 semesters) of tuition to a Missouri community college or public tech school! 4 year colleges and universities DO NOT participate in the state A+ program of funding. However, MANY universities offer their OWN scholarships to students that complete the A+ program! –Check with the Missouri College or University that you are applying to for most up-to-date information.

Tutoring/Community Service training is REQUIRED. 25 hours minimum in tutoring. 25% (12.5 hours) of the tutoring/mentoring component can be completed through Job Shadowing Maximum of 25 hours may be accepted in approved community service activities. All attendance and discipline appeals must be completed before graduation. If you complete online, you and your parents will print and sign a Certificate of Completion. –Return this certificate to your A+ Coordinator. –You may not earn credit for community service or tutoring hours completed prior to having this document on file. –After returning your certificate, you will be given tutor/community service logs & evaluation.

Must have a 2.0 GPA to be approved for tutoring. Approved by A+ Coordinator. Unpaid & at a non-profit location. No private households allowed. Hours turned in by May 1 st of graduation year. 50 hours over your high school career (25 hours minimum in tutoring).

NO cell phones allowed while tutoring/community service. You should not talk or text on your phone. NO doing homework. NO unauthorized computer use. NO profanity or inappropriate language. NO I-pods. Attend ALL appointments scheduled. Dress appropriately. Follow Parkway School District Rules. NOTE: being a member of this program is a privilege and may be taken away if the student’s attendance or behavior does not meet the standards of the A+ Program

F amily E ducational R ights P rivacy A ct NEVER use the name of a student in any public manner. NEVER Circulate a printed class list with student names. NEVER discuss the progress of any student with anyone other than the student without the consent of the student. NEVER provide anyone with the names or lists of students you are tutoring. NEVER provide anyone with student schedules or assist anyone other than school employees in finding a student. MANDATORY REPORTING: any information a student gives you that involves harm to themselves or others, report to supervisor immediately! BASICS… Student educational records are considered confidential. As a tutor you have a responsibility to protect educational records in your possession. IF YOU ARE TUTORING

Bring identification. Report directly to your assignment. DO NOT visit other locations. DO NOT bring friends. Call if you can not make your scheduled time/date.
