WORLD LANGUAGE WEEK Parkland High School Feb. 24 th - Feb. 28th Let’s continue with enthusiasm this wonderful positive tradition here at PHS!

Door Decorating  Create a door panel that represents an international theme!  Work with classmates, your club, or individually.  Bring in markers, rulers, etc. to help make it a great visual for fellow students.  Let’s use these to make the school festive and aware that it is World Language Week.  See your language teacher for more details, rules, etc.

Monday, Feb. 24 th International Cake Off!!! 7:00 PHS Yum! Happy Baking! Entry forms/Sign-up in B103

Volunteer Activity Tuesday, February 25th Community Service project after school! Example: Your class/ teacher will determine ahead of time the project. (collecting clothing/books/ hygiene items) to benefit another country or international cause and the final packaging can happen after school for the send off. Take photos and tallies of the project.

Wednesday, February 26 th Student School Day Dress- Be Internationally Festive! Wear: Soccer jerseys, country t-shirts, dress code appropriate cultural garb. (no hats) DANCE AFTER SCHOOL: (3:00-4:30) Zumba, 7 step, can-can etc. Have fun dancing some new steps with your classmates in B103. (Late bus available)

Thursday, February 27 th Language Teacher Switching(not students!)- for certain classes (Optional) Teachers: Master sign-up sheet with Sra. O’Donnell. Have students learn a little about another language, culture, or traditions. Restaurant Gathering: Come with your friends/family to a chosen restaurant to mingle, eat, and converse in the target language. Restaurants to be announced by your language teacher! 6:00- ? Spanish classes- On the Border/ Airport Rd.

Friday, February 28th ***Instead of the logistics of the assembly... International Video (In the planning stages) I am going to try to have the tv studio create a video highlighting some of our students who have lived in other countries and have a slideshow along with them. This way teachers can show it in class today or at their convenience. I am still not positive about this idea, but I will keep everyone posted with the progress. Please send me the names of any international students you have and what period you have them so I will be able to locate them. Thank you!
