Green Tip $aving on waste & energy costs gives us more to spend on quality patient care

Reducing energy usage= more dollars available to spend on improving quality patient care, patient outcomes, patient experiences In 2012, NYP installed 378 of these at NYP/WD and 147 of these at NYP/Allen. This resulted in a calculated energy cost savings of $204,877. Occupancy motion sensors

Reducing energy usage= more dollars available to spend on improving quality patient care, patient outcomes, patient experiences By optimizing our chiller plants and utilizing web- based monitoring, NYP saved _____ in energy cost in 2012, reducing CO2 emissions by 15,023,764 pounds. $2,199,661 in energy cost savings

Reducing regular trash in RMW containers = reduced volume/costs = more dollars available to spend on improving quality patient care, patient outcomes, patient experiences As of Q3 2012, NYP generated 218,000 pounds less of this waste stream, saving $64,000 as compared to last year. Regulated Medical Waste

Recycling, reprocessing, turning off the light, taking only the supplies that you need  reduces costs at NYP = more dollars available to spend on improving quality patient care, patient outcomes, patient experiences _____ # staff members attended our annual Earth Day festivities across all five campuses in 2012, to learn about how each of us can reduce energy, waste, and costs at NYP. 620 staff members
