2 Environmental Sustainability What is sustainability? Sustainability is just one word and yet There exist over 300 definitions.

7 Energy Where do we get our water, heat, light, air? Alternative forms of energy Energy saving technologies Energy efficient buildings, appliances Lighting (cfl bulbs) Renewable sources: Solar, wind, ocean geothermal

Small steps/short term Big steps/long term Agree as a staff about what we want to do Get more bins for the campus Start using both sides of all paper Put out a scratch paper tray in all rooms Turn off lights, copiers, computers every day Expand use of the garden Install solar panels Install a green roof, rooftop garden or planters Create a lasting mission/commitment to sustainabilty Switch to earth-friendly cleaning supplies
