Why join PTA? Educational Enhancement. Many important events and services at Bayview Elementary are made possible through the support of the PTA. Programs such as Field Day, Spring Fling, Holiday Concerts, Meet the Masters, Cultural Arts, Reflections, student agenda books, and so much more are funded exclusively by PTA. Membership dues from you, your spouse, grandparents and community members make these programs possible and allow us to provide the well rounded extra –curricular experience that our children enjoy at Bayview Elementary School. Awareness. By attending PTA meetings you become aware of important events and issues affecting our children’s education. This year, PTA will be offering an informative series of guest speakers covering a wide range of topics. In the past, some topics included Classroom Technology, Bullying, Online Safety, Allergies and other important subjects. You won’t want to miss these important discussions. Appreciation. Throughout the year, Bayview PTA provides treats, breakfasts and other gifts of appreciation to thank school staff for their hard work, participation and commitment. Resources. All PTA Members have on-line access to: Online parenting resources, including select articles from Our Children magazine. E newsletter on parenting and legislative issues. Exclusive National PTA member benefits and sponsor offers. Leadership training opportunities in-person and online. Discounted member rate for PTA’s annual national convention, magazine subscriptions, and more. The Member-to-Member Network, connecting you to Congress when help is needed on issues important to children, schools, and families. Personal Impact. Decades worth of research shows that when parents are involved, students perform better in school. They receive higher grades and test scores, have better attendance and lower rates of suspension, and are more likely to pursue postsecondary education. Children of involved parents also exhibit increased motivation, better self-esteem, less drug and alcohol use, and fewer instances of violent behavior. Membership Drive Contest The classroom with the highest percentage of enrollment will win a special treat for the entire class! Increase your child’s chances of winning by enrolling both parents and other interested family or community members. Have you both joined? When both parents join PTA you create twice the impact. Won’t you both consider joining this year? Important Dates Mark your calendar Wednesday, September 9 8:15 a.m. Volunteer Orientation Wednesday, September 16 6:30 p.m. First PTA General Meeting
