Subsection Membership payments and conferences supported by one member o 185 memberships were paid by one member in more than 10 new Subsection petitions in Region 10 and 8 o Member names duplicated in multiple petitions by changing their addresses in Regions 8, 9 and 10 -Region 8 Mauritius Section (3 Chapter petitions with the same names) -Region 9 Guyana Subsection

Region 10 Executive Committee Meeting o January 2011, Taipei o Enhance member benefits (recognition & incentives) o Stimulate inactive OUs with guidelines o Help to build a new section in countries without OUs (e.g. Nepal, Myanmar) o Increase industry support to attract new members. o Correct membership duplication for wrong purpose

o March 2011, Yogyakarta o Raise renewal/retention rate o Enhance members benefits(Recognition & Incentives) o Rejuvenate inactive Section/Chapters(3 years) o Recently R10 is facing duplicate membership and wrong OU formation o Revise approval procedure for new OU formation o In the mean time, R10 is double checking with the parent Section R10 Annual Meeting 2011

Recommendations o Make recommendations for policy changes to petition submission process (Elevation Committee) o It is advised that, for any new petitions submitted with mostly new members, the older members on the petition be contacted to verify their consent o New OU in Region 10 will be only Subsection o To upgrade to Section, any Subsection should demonstrate its sustainability as well as outstanding activities including membership growth o More than 70 OUs dissolved in 2011

R10 Elevation Committee o To promote sustainability of OUs and make recommendation to R10 director o Kukjin Chun (Chair) o Zhisheng Niu (R10 Conference Coordinator) o Deepak Mathur (R10 SC2011 Coordinator) o Jhing-Fa Wang (R10 Section/Chapter Coordinator)

o March 2011, Yogyakarta o For the formation of new OUs: -Formation of OU should be approved by the executive committee of the parent Section -A confirming letter should be sent to parent Section Chair for verification and consultation -The petition should be made preferably by a member of senior member grade of long standing -20 members for New Chapter and 30 for New Subsection Elevation Committee Meeting

o For upgrade from Subsection to Section: -The upgrade should be approved by the executive committee of the parent Section -A letter should be sent to parent Section Chair for verification and consultation -Petitioning subsection should be very active for consecutive three years and have demonstrated three fold growths in their activities -The number of members of the petitioning subsection should be more than 100 as well as at least three times larger than the membership when the subsection was formed Elevation Committee Meeting(cont’d)
