Getting to grips with online fundraising Our Top Tips!

Getting to grips with online fundraising  Concentrate on Direct Debits Steady stream of income and cheap to process. They account for 31% of all donations in the UK Last year there were 1.2billion pounds were of charitable Direct Debits Grow Your Tenner 2014: 4,000 monthly donations were set up via Localgiving 12 months after, 48% of these direct debits are still active

 Inspire fundraisers! They can reach donors you would never have had contact with before GYT gives them extra incentive because they know their efforts will be doubled On Localgiving, each fundraiser brings 10 new online donors to their charity who, on average, raised £400 per charity Getting to grips with online fundraising

 Your unique URL is the key!

Getting to grips with online fundraising How to ask for donations Have a clear picture of what you do and how their money will be used. Prepare a one minute piece to explain what your group does, and why someone should support your work. Prepare a 250 word piece on the same.

Getting to grips with online fundraising Try answering these questions: Why did your group set up? What would happen if your group didn't exist, or if you have to reduce your services? What has your group achieved since it was set up, and what goals and objectives do you have?

Getting to grips with online fundraising Incorporate these three components so that people can build an understanding of what you do. - The challenge - what was the wrong to be made right? - The hero - how does your groups operate to address the challenges you have described? - The resolution - what does the situation look like as a result of your work?

Getting to grips with online fundraising How many people does your group support every week/month/year, how many since you started? What partner organisations do you work with? Have you won awards? Do you have testimonials from service-users? Report your impact - How have you spent fundraising proceeds in the past?

Getting to grips with online fundraising People who feel a strong connection to your group and your cause will be more likely to make a larger donation why are you raising money? what will you do with the money? how much do you need to raise? how this project will impact your work? how urgent is your need? what will happen if the money is not raised? Make a clear Call to Action, for example, 'Donate £5 via our Localgiving page.

Getting to grips with online fundraising What’s coming up in 2015? To celebrate #GivingTuesday this year, we'll be running a 24hr match fund campaign to double 1,000 x £5 donations made to local charities on the day. Over the Christmas period we’ll be running a campaign to help groups raise more for their Christmas appeals. More details coming very soon….
