On your mark! Get Set! READ!! Get your books ready and join us in some reading fun! Our teachers will help kick-off this event with a Pajamas & Reading party on November 1st. Let’s support our schools and show that Chester Readers are PAW-SOME! Here is How it Works: Oct. 18 – Oct. 31 Gather sponsors using your Sponsorship Form Nov. 1 – Nov. 17 Log reading minutes into your Minute Recording Sheet Nov. 18 – Nov. 21 Collect pledges from sponsors Nov.22 Return your Minute Recording Sheet, your Sponsorship Form, and your collected money to school in a marked envelope Educational Foundation of the Chesters If you have any questions, please contact: Maria Cangialosi Brenda Eisenhardt Read-A-Thon School Fundraiser

Prizes to be Won Most Minutes Read Contest: The class in each grade with the most average minutes read will win a popsicle party. Top Readers: Gold medals will be awarded to the top three readers in each grade. Reading Raffle: Students who meet their reading minutes goal will have their name entered into a raffle for wonderful prizes. Students who return their Sponsorship Form with collected pledges by Nov. 22 nd will also be entered into the raffle. If you do both, you get entered twice! Read-A-Thon Rules: Sponsorship Forms should be used to track your sponsors and how much money they have pledged to donate. Start recording your reading minutes on Friday, November 1 st (and not before!). The Minute Recording Sheets must be used to keep track of how many minutes outside of school you read each day. Parents must sign the Minute Recording Sheet to confirm that their child read all their logged minutes. This will help to assure fairness. No guessing minutes. Please look at the clock or use a timer or stopwatch to clock your minutes. What Minutes Count???  Reading before and after school counts.  Reading before the official beginning of the Read-A-Thon does not count.  Reading during class does not count (with the exception of the 20 minutes at the “Kick- Off” party).  Being read to by other people counts as long as it isn't at school.  Reading aloud to a pet counts.  Reading aloud to other people counts. If you happen to read to someone who is also participating in the Read-A-Thon, it counts for both of you!  Homework reading counts so long as it is done after or before school.  Reading on the bus counts.  Reading under the bed covers, with a flashlight, late at night counts (but only if it is okay with your parents).
