1. Melodious – adj. Pleasant to hear. Synonym = tuneful Sentence = She sings in a melodious voice.

2. Nefarious – adj. Corrupt or vicious Synonym = villainous Sentence = The nefarious man frightened everyone.

3. Heinous – adj. Terrible and shocking Synonym = monstrous Sentence = The crime was so heinous even the police were shocked.

4. Sublime – adj. Amazingly wonderful Synonym = splendid Sentence = The weather on the island was sublime.

5. Steadfast – adj. Firm and steady or not changing Synonym = loyal Sentence = We are steadfast supporters of our team.

6. Aloof – adj. Distant and not friendly Antonym = extroverted Synonym = conceited Sentence = Sally is so aloof that no one gets a chance to know her.

7. Volatile – adj. Rapid mood changes Synonym = excitable or moody Sentence = Theo’s volatile temper made his friends uneasy.

8. Poignant – adj. Affects you deeply and makes you feel sadness or regret. Synonym = moving Sentence = The scene where the boy had to put his dog to sleep was really poignant.

9. Prodigious – adj. Great in amount or size; very impressive Antonym = paltry Sentence = I love movies with prodigious special effects.

10. Ruminate - verb To think carefully about something for a long time. Synonym = ponder Sentence = Roger was still ruminating about the movie two days after seeing it.
